D.E.I. Parent Team - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Mission
The Manor Woods Elementary School PTA has created a school-wide DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Parent Team. The Mission of the DEI Parent Team is to create a sense of awareness of the rich diversity within our school community, and enhance belonging for MWES students, in partnership with school administration and faculty.
Vision
A school community where every member feels seen, heard and empowered. Our vision is aligned with the belief that:
Every member of the MWES Community has a right to a successful, equitable and inclusive school experience.
Underrepresented voices should be amplified and given platforms to contribute and thrive.
Allyship is critical to cultivating diversity, equity and inclusion; we welcome, celebrate and actively seek out allies.
We can find unity in our diversity.
What do we mean by Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?
Diversity is the presence of differences that may include but not limited to race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, or age.
Equity is promoting justice, impartiality and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems.
Inclusion is an outcome to ensure those that are diverse actually feel a sense of belonging.

The DEI Team will host events throughout the year offering opportunities for our community to share, learn and celebrate. We will also offer resources on a variety of topics as we continue to build on our mission. All school community members are welcome to join our team.
